Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

St Peters College continues to take a proactive approach to the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 through a range of measures including educating and emphasizing good personal hygiene practices, with the health and well-being of each member of our community remaining the over-riding priority.

As an educational institution, the education of our students is our core business. As such it is prudent that we have Business Continuity Plans in place around the around ongoing delivery of education programs in the event of a situation where the College is closed due to COVID-19 for a period of time.

The College would like to reassure prospective families interested in enrolling their child(ren) at the school that we are still accepting enrolment applications.

Please refer to our Enrolments page for further information.

*** If you are unwell, please do not come to school  ***

COVID-19 shares many symptoms with other flu-like sickness. Many people who contract the virus will suffer only mild symptoms, although early indications are that the elderly and people with pre-existing medical conditions are more at risk of experiencing severe symptoms. The most common symptoms reported include:

  • Fever
  • Breathing difficulties such as breathlessness
  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Fatigue or tiredness.

Students or other family members who have flu-like symptoms should not attend school or school-related events until they are fully recovered.

Personal Hygiene

Good personal hygiene practices remain crucial to the containment of the spread of COVID-19. The College has in a variety of forums reinforced with students the importance of this and will continue to do so. It is important students continue these practices at home as well as school.

The key personal hygiene habits include:

  • Wash hands often with soap and running water, for at least 20 seconds. Dry with paper towel or hand dryer.
  • Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. If you don’t have a tissue cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow.
  • Water bottles should not be shared.
  • Hand shaking is discouraged, and should be replaced by foot taps or elbow bumps.
