Our Story & Vision
Plus Ultra - Ever Higher
Our College motto, Plus Ultra, calls us simultaneously to the heights of personal excellence and human endeavour. We are called to reach beyond the visible to the spiritual life; the foot of the cross and eternity. At St Peters Springfield, we value the young people in our care for who they are. We support them as they travel many and varied pathways in pursuit of their dreams and aspirations. We are dedicated to helping our students in their learning and nurturing their gifts so they can grow into extraordinary young men and women.
Our Story
St Peters Lutheran College Springfield opened in 2008 as a Prep to Year 8 school located, then, on Springfield's Education City Drive. By adding one year level per year, it progressed to being a Prep to Year 12 College by 2012, when it then moved a short distance to its current and permanent site on Wellness Way in Health City, Springfield Central. St Peters Lutheran Kindergarten opened its doors in January 2013. Today, the College has over 800 students and, as a Kindergarten to Year 12 establishment, provides the wider Springfield community with a comprehensive learning journey on the one site.
St Peters Springfield students have access to many of the programs available at St Peters Indooroopilly, plus a host of unique clubs and initiatives of their own. These programs include the iconic Ironbark Outdoor Education program—a life changing five-week experience for Year 9 students. Ironbark takes place at the College's farm in Crows Nest, Queensland. It was established in 1974 as a trial program and became an ongoing Outdoor Education program in 1976.
Ironbark reflects a strong commitment to the holistic formation of our Junior High students. The experience is seen by staff, parents and students as a vital part of the St Peters journey. At Ironbark, we foster independence, resilience, team work and problem solving. Students are encouraged to practice ethical decision making and sustainability, and they develop a strong environmental awareness during their stay.
Our Vision
Following the completion of Strategic Intent Plus Ultra 2025, the College has reflected on the progress of the past five years and looked ahead with clarity and confidence. Our new Strategic Intent, Plus Ultra Ever Higher 2030, builds on strong foundations and momentum, continues our Strategic Pillars, and defines clear priorities for the years ahead. In a rapidly changing world, it provides direction and focus while remaining true to the Mission of the College.
At the heart of Plus Ultra Ever Higher 2030 are our students. Our vision is to be a Learning Community where people flourish and to develop fine young people of character who are kind, resilient, creative, and empathetic; critical thinkers and problem‑solvers; humble yet aspirational, with a servant heart and a strong sense of purpose.
