About St Peters

St Peters Lutheran College is one of Queensland’s leading day and boarding co-educational independent schools. The College is governed by the Lutheran Church of Australia (Queensland District) and has been upholding the mission of ‘Excellence in Christian Co-education’ since 1945. Blue Card 2020

Introduction

All children have a right to be safe and protected from harm. The Blue Card system regulates activities which are essential to Children’s lives, including education. The Blue Card check is a national criminal history check and is a mandatory compliance item in education for all employment positions. The Queensland Government’s Blue Card system is made up of 3 parts;

  • Screening
  • Ongoing monitoring
  • Risk management strategies.
Changes to Blue Cards

Blue Card Legislation has changed effective 31 August 2020 and a "No Card, No Start" policy is now in effect. This means that paid Employees must hold a current paid Blue Card / Exemption Card or be issued with a paid Blue Card / Exemption Card before they can commence work. Candidates may wish to consider how their Blue Card status will affect their suitability for this position as a Blue Card / Exemption Card is an inherent requirement of the role prior to a start date. As has already been the case and consistent with other registrations/certifications, for example, QCT Teacher registration, applying for and maintaining currency of your Blue Card is a personal professional obligation (including expenses). If you have any questions on these upcoming changes or Blue Cards in general, you can contact Blue Card Services directly or email People & Culture.
