St Peters in the Holidays

Have you ever wondered what goes on at St Peters over the school holidays? You’d be mistaken if you thought the College became a ghost town—aside from the lack of students, boarders and teachers being physically present on campus, it’s still a hive of activity!

The 2018 Christmas Holidays, already, have seen the following activities take place:

  • FIRST Tech Robotics Challenge Nationals
  • Year 10 German Exchange Program
  • St Peters Soloists International Tour
  • National Rugby 7s Championships
  • 2018 Vietnam-Cambodia Tour
  • U14s and U16s Water Polo Queensland State Championships
  • Australian Volleyball Schools Cup
  • National Track and Field Championships

Throughout the holidays, our Primary Years students will participate in Code Camp; there are a range of sporting pre-season training clinics scheduled in; plus coaching qualification courses; Year 8 Australian Space Design Competition Finals and much, much more!

Why so much activity?

Life at St Peters is busy, but so worthwhile. We pride ourselves on giving as many opportunities to our students as we can and we’re constantly impressed by how much they achieve. In December 2018, our Robotics students won their finals by 200 points; four athletes claimed five medals at the National Track and Field Championships; Edan (Year 12), Nat (Year 11) and Jeremiah (Year 10) all had strong performances at the National Rugby 7s Championships; Old Scholar, Ariarne Titmus (2018) claimed gold and the title of World Champion in the 200m Freestyle at the FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships in China; and our 2018 Vietnam-Cambodia Tour group have done incredible volunteer work in Southeast Asia.

As you read this, our Volleyballers continue to stack up the wins at the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup; our Water Polo girls are achieving great things at the State Championships; and our St Peters Soloists are blowing audiences away around Europe as they showcase their musical talents. It seems, at the moment, that there isn’t a part of the globe you can go to without encountering someone from St Peters. Our community stretches far and wide, and of that, we’re extremely proud!
