In Term 2, our sub-schools were able to reintroduce multiple Year Level assemblies and, with that, has come special presentations and guest speakers. Saints Sprint Forward
The 124th Queensland Athletics Championships took place from 11-14 March—the state’s premier Track & Field event for the year. Featured in the Championships were more than a handful of St Peters Track & Field stars, proving we’ve definitely got a few to watch as the years progress!

Students Find their Futures
It’s no secret that the onset of COVID-19 disrupted what everyone once knew as ‘normal’, especially in the school setting. 2020 saw an absence of College events and, for a time, students on campus, but, surprisingly, it wasn’t all bad. Creative thinking thrived and, of that, many new programs and initiatives were born. One such program was the St Peters ‘Find Your Future’ program.
Year 6 students taking steps to be great leaders
To support our Year 6 students in understanding what it means to be a supportive leader in Primary School, we organised them to work with a team from ‘Character Builders’. The program was run over two days — one at school and one on the Kokoda track at Mt Coot-tha.

We are nearing the end of the school year—a year unlike any other in so many ways. When we gathered on the Concourse for our Founders’ Day Service in January, none of us had any inkling of what lay ahead.
Upper Primary Peace Pole
In the lead-up to the centenary of Rotary Australia, the Rotary Club of Kenmore donated a Peace Pole to our Upper Primary students. The pole, one of just 100 donated in Australia, was officially welcomed by our Year 6 students on Tuesday 5 November, 2020—in the College’s 75th year.
Adapting to new ways and methods
During the extraordinary circumstances of 2020 we noticed our students adapted and developed exceptional skills including—innovation, resilience, problem solving, perseverance, creativity, optimism — skills identified in our St Peters Springfield Graduate Tree.
Encouraging our students to explore, to challenge and take risks
Part of our job as parents and teachers is to encourage our children to explore, to challenge and to take risks while we walk alongside supporting and guiding them. We need to pick them up when they fall down, and celebrate with them when they fly high.
Every day heroes cycle to make a difference
During their holidays most people were relaxing but St Peters Springfield students — Bailey S. (Year 12) and Harry S. (Year 10) cycled over 1,000 km and raised over $10,600 for charity. Their challenge began on Monday 21 September and went to Sunday 27 September.
Being kind takes a moment
Today, we recognised RUOK day which is an annual day reminding us that we need to check in on others throughout the year and a time to ensure we have the check-in skills needed to support others if they are not OK.
Taking the time for a little appreciation in life and learning
Appreciating or recognising the positive qualities of someone or something flows into gratitude, one of the qualities on our graduate tree. Being grateful for the blessings that enrich our lives leads us to compassion.
Many Nations, One Family
The annual St Peters Multicultural Week is one of the College’s key calendar events. Celebrated, typically, as a whole-of-College event, the pinnacle of the week is the Parade of Nations ceremony. This year, we united online to celebrate what makes our community unique: our cultural diversity.

It is our challenge as parents and educators to create optimal conditions for growth, to protect and nurture curiosity and creativity which leads to learning and innovation and empowers our young people for the future.
Empathy and the arts
The more we can use arts forms like drama, art, music and dance, which are all literacies in different ways, because they’re all about making meaning in different ways, the more we will be able to imagine different possibilities and different ways of making the world a better and more socially just place.
