Please note that I have recently been advised that I require surgery. This surgery has been scheduled for early next week. Following my surgery, I will be on medical leave for the remainder of the term, recovering and recuperating, ready to return at the beginning of Term 2.
During my absence, Mrs Lisa Delaney will be Acting Head of College and Ms Lisa Challenor will be Acting Deputy Head of College. Mr Cameron Glass and Mrs Simone Mitchell will assume shared leadership responsibilities for the Primary Years.
I would ask that you uphold me and my doctors in prayer as I undergo surgery and recovery. I look forward to returning to St Peters ready and raring to go at the start of next Term.
Our New Strategic Intent
Last week, we launched our new Strategic Intent Plus Ultra More Beyond 2030 with our community. A key Strategic Pillar is Empowering Teaching and Learning, where our Intent is to: Enable excellence in learning, every day, in every learning experience, for every learner, for life.
In order to realise this Intent we have two Strategic Initiatives that we will be focused on implementing -
Develop our St Peters Learning Architecture with its touchstones of our Teaching & Learning Framework, evidence-informed pedagogy and instruction; well-tailored curriculum; student agency and learner culture to enhance learning outcomes and empower students in their learning.
Develop instructional playbooks for key touchstones of the St Peters Learning Architecture.
When I launched our Strategic Intent with College staff, I endeavoured to paint a picture for them of what each Strategic Intent would look like when realised. Knowing what we aspire to is important, as it helps create clarity and a shared understanding.
Here is the short aspirational paragraph for our Empowering Teaching & Learning Strategic Intent that I shared with staff:
Through our St Peters Learning Architecture we aim to bring coherence and purpose to every classroom by uniting a shared teaching and learning framework with evidence-informed pedagogy and high-impact instruction. We are seeking to ensure our curriculum is thoughtfully designed and well-tailored, so learning is rigorous, relevant, and responsive to the needs of every student. Through consistent touchstones, our teachers will be making intentional choices that translate research into practice and elevate learning outcomes. Student agency sits at the heart of this architecture, empowering learners to take ownership, set goals, and reflect on their growth. Together, these elements cultivate a strong learner culture where curiosity, challenge, and excellence are lived every day.

NAPLAN – Junior High
This term, our Years 7 and 9 students will participate in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN).
Why do we participate in NAPLAN?
NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment to help parents see how their child, compared with the rest of Australia’s children, is progressing in the fundamental skills of literacy and numeracy. NAPLAN tests are one aspect of each school’s assessment and reporting process. NAPLAN does not replace the extensive, ongoing assessments made by teachers about each student’s performance. A child’s teacher will have the best insight into the child’s educational progress.
Who administers the NAPLAN tests in Years 7 and 9?
Form Class Teachers will administer the tests with additional Year 7 and Year 9 staff scheduled as required.
When does NAPLAN testing occur?
Part 1 - OMNIBUS Familiarisation Testing
All students must have an opportunity to use the NAPLAN testing environment prior to the testing window. The Omnibus test will be administered using the NAPLAN practice environment in Week 4 on Thursday 19 February, Periods 1–2.
Part 2 - NAPLAN Testing Window
The NAPLAN testing window opens on 11 March, and we will complete the domains in the sequence below:
Catch-up sessions will be offered to absent students and to those impacted by misadventure/technical disruptions. Students will be scheduled into these sessions as needed and notified of additional details by email.
What will students need?
Each student device needs to have the current NAP locked-down browser installed prior to testing. As the College has a BYOD policy, the locked-down browser must be installed at home by 18 February. It can be accessed from NAPLAN Locked down browser. Devices must be compliant with minimum requirements outlined by the Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority.
For more information about NAPLAN, please read the Information for parents and carers, visit the College NAPLAN section on Firefly. Students and families can also use the public demonstration site at any time. The site is available as a familiarisation tool for students to see the range of question types, onscreen tools, timers, and the interactive navigation.

Primary Years
Primary Years News
Thank you to all parents and caregivers who attended our Parent Information Evenings this week. These sessions play a vital role in strengthening connections between home and school and in keeping families informed about the academic and pastoral programs that support learning and wellbeing in our Primary Years classrooms.
In my welcome video, I shared the College’s Strategic Intent, Plus Ultra More Beyond 2030, and reflected on our five core values: God’s Love, Respect, Excellence, Service, and Balance. Parents and caregivers were reminded of the strong link between community wellbeing and balance, ensuring children have adequate time to rest and relax, connect with family and friends and, particularly for our youngest learners, time to play.
My challenge to the Primary Years community this year is to work together to ensure our students experience age-appropriate balance in their daily lives, both at school and at home.
You would also have heard about the important role of our Parent Representatives. Parent Representatives are an integral part of our school community and provide a valuable point of connection for families by:
Supporting strong home–school partnerships through communication between teachers and parents at a class or year-level.
Encouraging parent involvement in classroom and community volunteering opportunities.
Welcoming new families and supporting their transition into the St Peters community.
Organising social opportunities, such as parent evenings or coffee mornings, to foster connection and friendships.
Supporting parents who are unable to be on campus regularly, ensuring they remain informed and connected.
Thank you to those who have already volunteered for this important role. If you are interested in becoming a Parent Representative, further information about the Parent Representative Roles and Responsibilities can be found here. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you are interested.

Junior High
Junior High News
Junior High
Term 1 has begun with energy across Junior High. Classrooms are settled, routines are well established, and students are demonstrating strong engagement with their learning. It has been pleasing to see so many students flourishing in both academic and co-curricular settings.
Swim Carnival
Congratulations to all Junior High students on their enthusiastic participation in the Junior High Swimming Carnival. The day was marked by outstanding sportsmanship, strong house spirit, and genuine support for peers. Whether competing in the pool or cheering from the sidelines, students represented the College with pride and positivity. Events such as these are central to building community and belonging.
Information Evening
It was also wonderful to see such strong parent attendance at our recent Junior High Information Evening. Your presence and engagement reinforce the importance of partnership between home and school. Research consistently shows that students achieve better outcomes when families and schools work together with shared expectations and open communication. We greatly value your support and involvement in your child’s education.
Academic Awards
Next week, we will hold our Academic Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 17 February at 8:15am in the Dron Auditorium, celebrating the success of students in 2025. Parents and carers of award recipients have received an email invitation to attend. We look forward to celebrating the academic achievements of our students together.
Social Media Age Restrictions
We would also like to remind families of the recently introduced Social Media Age Restrictions for students under 16. As Australian adolescent psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg shared in recent media interviews, this initiative is not about 'punishing kids or turning back the clock.' It is about providing developing brains with a much-needed circuit breaker and helping families rediscover meaningful connection beyond the screen. We appreciate the role parents play in supporting healthy digital habits and thank you for working alongside us in this important area.
We look forward to continuing this strong start to the year and supporting every Junior High student to grow, thrive, and contribute positively to our community.
Max Forbes Head of Junior High
Year 7 Update
The Year 7s have started the year off well, setting a fantastic standard with their uniforms and also their attitudes to learning. Many are finding the longer days tiring, but this has not stopped them from signing up for one of the many cocurricular opportunities that St Peters offers. Year 7 classes have been working through orientation activities over the past few weeks, getting them ready for their learning and set up for success. It has been pleasing to see their positive attitudes, big smiles, and enjoyment of their learning to date. Their participation in the Junior High Inter-House Swimming Carnival was wonderful. It was so pleasing to see their House spirit and enthusiasm on the day.
Allie Walsh Year 7 Coordinator
Year 8 Update
Start to the Year
Year 8 has made an excellent start to the year, with students settling enthusiastically into new routines. This year brings added responsibilities, particularly in managing class movement and organisation across the school. We also held our first Year Level Assembly, launching our focus on growth for the year. Students reflected on how they might give an extra 10% to challenge themselves and step outside their comfort zones.
Swimming Carnival
Year 8 attendance and participation at the Junior High Inter-House Swimming Carnival were excellent. Many students showed great House spirit, cheering enthusiastically and competing proudly to support their House.
Parent Information Evenings
It was a pleasure to meet many Year 8 families at the Parent Information Evening this week. As a new staff member, it has been a joy to be welcomed into the St Peters community, and I appreciated the opportunity to speak with so many of you.
Tegan Sutton Year 8 Coordinator
Year 9 Update
Year 9 students have made an excellent start to the year, with a strong focus on leadership and personal growth. Following the full-day yLead leadership program, students were invited to apply for Junior High Leadership positions. This process encourages students to reflect on their strengths and values and involves submitting a written application, gaining endorsement from two staff members, and participating in an interview. It has been wonderful to see so many Year 9 students step forward, demonstrating initiative, confidence and a willingness to serve their community.

The U12 BMJC Water Polo team had a very competitive 2-2 draw against Somerville House on the weekend. The week prior, the girls returned from the Christmas break in strong form, securing a huge 7-0 win against Loreto College. Currently sitting 6th on the ladder out of 11 teams, the team is shaping up strongly heading into the final four rounds of the season before finals.
Ignite
Ignite is our reimagined Sport for Life program, giving students the chance to explore a wide range of activities in Term 1 and ignite new passions. Each term, activities will change based on student voice and new opportunities that arise. A huge well done to all our Primary students who took part in the Northern Eagles District Swimming Trials at the 50m pool on Monday, 9 February. Some of our swimmers will progress through to the Met West trials, and we wish them the very best as they take the next step in their school sporting pathway.
St Peters Western update (SPW)
Term 1 is a busy one for our swimmers, but they have been back at work, training hard and already achieving some incredible results.
At the recent Brisbane Sprint Championships held on 24–25 January, SPW had 13 Primary students competing. Amongst many personal best performances, a highlight was Year 4 student Jordan Z, who brought home the bronze medal in the 9 Years 50m Breaststroke.
This past weekend, we also had several students compete at the Queensland Sprint Championships. Congratulations to Alfred C, Charlotte H, Jonathan L, Kaitlyn R, Henrietta R, Max S, Rose T and Harry X for qualifying and competing at this event.

Over the weekend, St Peters teams showcased their prowess across various disciplines. Our Australian Rules teams faced tough competition but emerged with a win in the 10A competition. On the Cricket pitches, our teams clinched victories with some impressive batting displays, with our 1st XI closing out the game to win by 15 runs. In Volleyball, despite tough competition, our players demonstrated resilience, with our Years 7–9 teams recording several wins. Meanwhile, our swimmers excelled at the first meet, with our Senior students to be commended for their leadership in helping out with St Peters' first AIC Meet. St Peters athletes continue to demonstrate dedication and skill across the sporting spectrum, setting a high standard for the competition.
We look forward to hosting our Senior fixtures this weekend against Marist College for Cricket and Volleyball respectively. Looking forward to seeing all the Saints go marching in to support the boys, whether at Mayer Oval for Pink Stumps Day or in the Gym mezzanine for Volleyball! Let’s bring the noise and showcase our St Peters spirit!
Student Achievements
St Peters Western trio Lachlan E (Year 12), Riley M (Year 11), and William T (Year 11) are among five Queensland swimmers named in a 10-strong Australian team for the 2026 World Aquatics Junior Open Water Swimming Championships in Santa Fe, Argentina. The four-day event will be held in Lago Sur from 3–6 September. The team was named following last month’s successful Australian Championships in Koombana Bay in Bunbury, WA where Lachlan won the 19 years 10km title, and Riley (17 years) and Will (16 years) both chalked up impressive 5km and 7.5km doubles.
Best of luck for the Water Swimming Championships, boys!

*The Australian Rules team is selected from a pool of 30 players, with 22 selected for each fixture.
Mr Tim Kotzur and coaches attended to address the players and present them with their playing shirts and baggy caps. It filled me with great honour to see the young men take pride in their uniform and to 'play for the crest' with many students being teammates for several years, and discussions of brotherhood were many. The unity these young men showed was a testament to their character and was carried into the sporting arena last weekend, with each of our First team recording comprehensive wins to kick the AIC season off with a strong start!
We do encourage all students and parents to support our cricketers, volleyballers, Australian Rules players, and St Peters swimmers over the course of their respective sporting seasons. A large part of our St Peters sporting program is also about community engagement. Sport at St Peters is a great environment in which to connect and socialise with other students and parents.
Please refer to the St Peters App for details of times and venues for all AIC Round 2 games this Friday and Saturday.
AIC Ecumenical Service
The AIC sporting year was launched on Thursday 5 February, with the annual AIC Ecumenical Service hosted by St Laurence's College. The Ecumenical Service celebrates the Christian bond among all member Colleges and gives student and staff representatives from each school an opportunity to come together as a community before competition commences.
After the Ecumenical Service, students from all eight member colleges and AIC Guest College Ambrose Treacy participated in a student forum, which included a presentation by former North Qld Cowboy Mr John Manning. Mr Manning's story of resilience and reshaping yourself after adversity was particularly inspirational for our young men. The session finished off with AIC partner Griffith University speaking with students about opportunities.
Inter-House Swimming Carnival
Last week, our Junior High and Senior School rocked their House colours at the annual Inter-House Swimming Carnival. It was a day of tremendous school spirit, jam-packed with colour, creativity, and competition! A special mention to our well-oiled Sports House team and Health and Physical Education department, as well as Mr Bradley Chapman, our House Coordinator, for all his behind-the-scenes work in ensuring an enjoyable and effective carnival.
Congratulations to Bradman, who edged out Chisholm (winners of the previous three years) to take the win with 2613 points! Chisholm followed very closely behind in second, with 2599 points, while Laver rounded out the top three with 2265 points.
Australian Rules
Years 8 and 10 students are reminded to attend all training sessions and games, and to notify Mr Barker of any absence. Recently, both teams have lacked numbers at games, making fielding teams difficult. Students need to honour their commitment and not change sports moving forward. If your son is in Year 8 or Year 10 and interested in signing up for Australian Rules, please email Mr Tyrell Barker at t.barker@stpeters.qld.edu.au.
Cricket
On Saturday 14 February the sixth Pink Stumps event will be hosted by St Peters College in conjunction with Marist College, with games at both Colleges on this very special day. This year, we have the McGrath Foundation Ambassador and Director, Tracy Bevan, attending a Pink Stumps breakfast and cap presentation. Please note that Tracy will be in the P&F Centre from 9:30am until 11:00am and everyone is welcome to pop in and say hello.
Our Pink Stumps Day event will help fund more McGrath Cancer Care Nurses so they can then provide vital physical, psychological, and emotional support to more people navigating breast cancer. It’s so important to get as many people as we can on board, because sadly, breast cancer leaves no community untouched. This year, 20,458 women and 217 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia. Each one deserves the best quality of care, with support from a McGrath Breast Care Nurse.
All home and away matches will feature the iconic pink stumps and hats. The parents and families of the boys are kindly asked to show their support by wearing pink on the day. Students will be given pink caps. The P&F building will be open on the day with free tea, coffee and snacks, and if you are at school, please pop in and show your support for the McGrath Foundation, which helps so many families in so many ways. All sports are welcome!
Volleyball
Students are reminded that the grey training shirt is to be worn at training and before matches, while the maroon Volleyball jersey available from Shop 45 is to be worn during matches.
Volleyball BBQ Roster – Round 2 | Saturday 15 February
The Volleyball Parent Support Group is seeking one or two parents to help coordinate the Junior BBQ (Years 7–9). There are three or four BBQs during the season, and coordination includes helping with setup and coordinating food. If you are interested in helping, please email us at volleyballpsg@stpeters.qld.edu.au. Without your help and time, the Volleyball Support Group will find it difficult to run the fundraising BBQs and support your children in their Volleyball pursuits! If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at volleyballpsg@stpeters.qld.edu.au.
Cross Country
Cross Country training has started and sign-up links have been sent out! For any students in Years 7–12 interested in signing up for Cross Country in 2026, please see the messages below from Miss Le Sage, Cross Country Coordinator, to support your participation in Cross Country, as well as your weekend AIC sport, i.e. Chess, Football and/or Rugby. There are sessions offered every day to balance your Term 1 sporting schedule. Please prioritise your current Term 1 sporting commitments.
Meets are on Wednesday afternoons and begin in mid-Term 2, meaning it will not clash with your AIC fixtures. You can do both!
Run Club also meets every Friday at 6:30am at the internal bus stop. Whether you’re new to running or already clocking up big kilometres, everyone is welcome! Students can run anywhere from 1–10km, at their own pace and ability. Run Club is all about moving, chatting, and starting your Friday off on the right foot. Lace up and come along — you don’t have to be fast, or fit, just keen! Run Club is also open to all staff.
Rowing
The Years 9 to Opens boys have started training in the School Gym, and we’re already well underway. We’re looking forward to an exciting season ahead, with the team striving to win back the Jenny Pemberton Cup in 2026. Further details on our Learn to Row program will be shared soon to the community.

Athletic Development
The St Peter's Athletic Development Program supports students' physical growth and athletic performance, with sessions available before and after school in the Weights Room at the Indooroopilly Campus. Juniors (Years 7–9) focus on mastering fundamental movement patterns, while Seniors (Years 10–12) build on these skills with tailored programs for all levels. Regardless of gym experience, we cater for all levels and encourage all students to take advantage of this opportunity. Girls are encouraged to attend Athletic Development sessions year-round (pre-season, in-season, and post-season) to complement their involvement in their chosen sports programs. The training schedule will be uploaded to the St Peters App shortly.
As we commence the Term 1 AIC (Australian Rules/Cricket/Volleyball) season, I would like to share some important information regarding injury management, return-to-sport procedures, and concussion awareness. These processes are in place to support student safety and to ensure clear communication between the school, families, and medical professionals. All injuries or incidents that occur during training or matches are managed in line with the College’s risk management procedures. Where required, injuries are documented and followed up by the school and Sports Medicine staff.
Concussion identification and management are a priority across all AIC sports. To assist parents in recognising the signs and symptoms of concussion, we strongly encourage you to view the following Australian Sports Concussion Identification video:
This short video provides practical guidance on what to look for and what steps to take if you have concerns about your child following a sporting event.
If a concussion or suspected concussion occurs during school sport, the College will follow its concussion management protocol and communicate directly with families regarding next steps.

The shirt is available for purchase through School Locker at Shop 45. Please note that these shirts are to be worn only during cocurricular Sport training and not during Curriculum time between 8:00am and 3:10pm.
Volleyball: Not to be worn instead of the jersey for games Cricket: Program shirt can be worn or Grey Training Shirt
ST PETERS STUDENT AND PARENT SPECTATORS ON GAMEDAYS
As we continue the AIC season, we remind students, parents, spectators, and coaches of the shared responsibility to uphold AIC expectations and proudly represent St Peters. The AIC is founded on inclusion, fellowship and respect. All participants are expected to treat others with dignity, regardless of background, ability, or belief. Sport is an opportunity to model positive behaviour and create an environment where students can enjoy competing, learning and growing.
Parents and spectators play a vital role by supporting all players, respecting officials’ decisions, and recognising that school sport relies heavily on volunteer coaches and match officials. Encouragement should focus on effort, enjoyment and participation rather than results. Positive role modelling is essential — students learn best through example.
Coaches, teachers and officials — both our own and those from opposing schools — should be shown appreciation for their time and commitment. Communication regarding sport should always be respectful and directed through appropriate College channels.
Importantly, AIC events are not appropriate venues for any conflict or dispute. Any concerns should be raised calmly and through the correct processes. Together, by demonstrating respect, sportsmanship and integrity, we ensure AIC sport remains a positive and rewarding experience and continue to represent St Peters with pride.
For more information regarding the AIC Code of Conduct, CLICK HERE.
WET WEATHER AND CANCELLATIONS
With regards to wet weather and any unforeseen or potential cancellations of AIC sports, please ensure that you keep an eye out for notifications and alerts via the St Peters App. We will endeavour to keep everyone updated on both training cancellations and game day changes as the week progresses.

Congratulations to Bradman, who edged out Chisholm (winners of the previous three years) to take the win with 2613 points! Chisholm followed very closely behind in second, with 2599 points, while Laver rounded out the top three with 2265 points.
Well done to all our students for diving into the competition, wearing their house colours with pride, and bringing fantastic energy to the pool deck! A special thank you to our Sports Staff for running the two events, Mr Bradley Chapman for coordinating with the House Patrons, and our House Captains for keeping the house spirit alive.
What a fantastic two days of racing and rivalry! Next up is our Inter-House Cross Country Carnival in Week 10.

Starting this Thursday, St Peters will again field four Touch teams in the BMTA club fixtures. After the success of last year’s involvement, we are excited to be entering teams again in 2026 as we continue to grow and strengthen our Touch program. We hope the girls enjoy the opportunity to develop their skills in a competitive environment.
Water polo – boys v girls game
Get ready for one of the most anticipated lunchtimes of the term! Head down to the 50m Pool on Tuesday 17 February to cheer on the Open Girls as they take on the Firsts Boys in a high‑energy water polo showdown.
uniform expectations
Students are reminded that it is compulsory to wear the official St Peters grey training shirt to all training sessions. This ensures consistency across our programs, helps coaches identify participants easily, and maintains the standards of our Girls Sport community. Thank you for supporting our uniform expectations.
For specific sport uniform expectations, please refer to the St Peters App.
Run Club is a great way to improve your fitness in an inclusive environment! Plus, you'll receive a free Zooper Dooper at the end of your run!
Run Club takes place from 6:30am – 7:30am on Friday mornings and is open to all members of our community (including staff). Meet at the internal bus stop at Indooroopilly. Students can run anywhere from 1–10km, at their own pace and ability.
Make sure you’re subscribed to Cross Country on the St Peters App to access the training schedule and to receive any notifications of Run Club cancellations.
Please see the Northern Eagles calendar currently available on the St Peters App. Information regarding Term 1 district nominations has been emailed to all students. Students need to be part of a St Peters A Team standard or play club at a high level to be nominated. A final decision on nominations will be at the discretion of the Sport Department. Further nomination information will be emailed to students at the start of each term.
