End of Term Activities and Early Leave

As the end of year is rapidly approaching, Primary Years teachers will begin to complete their reviews of the work that has been completed throughout the year. Observations and assessments will occur prior to the final written reports. These are important times, academically, but also from a social and emotional perspective, as children journey through to the conclusion of projects and activities.

If you have booked early holidays, it is imperative that the College is aware of this so that teachers can ensure that your child has closure for the year prior to leaving. Please email your request for early leave to p.carden@stpeters.qld.edu.au and copy the class teacher into the email.

Friday 27 October Marks Day for Daniel Day

We will commemorate Day for Daniel Day on Friday 27 October. Students are encouraged to wear a plain, red t-shirt instead of their regular sports shirt on this day. All other school uniform requirements apply.

Please remember to give your child a gold coin donation, which will be collected from them and sent to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.

Mrs Izatt and Ms Trevisan have prepared activities for teachers to complete during the week to remind students about ways to keep safe, as an adjunct to the lessons from the Morcombe curriculum.

Year 3 Leadership Day – Friday 20 October

What an amazing day we had, last Friday! Year 3 students had a wonderful day learning about how to become better leaders.

Damon, Blake and Lou from Character Builders visited and ran a lot of fun activities, which helped us learn what it takes to be a great leader. We started off playing a fantastic (and loud) game of 'scissors, paper, rock'.

After morning tea, we were divided into groups and played ‘The Amazing Race’. This consisted of the marble run, carrots and pea, bucket heads, dominoes, blindfold cup stacks and tennis balls in hoops. We had to work as a team to complete the games successfully; and also earned bonus points for encouraging our team mates.

Lunch at Café 45 was a highlight of the day for most of us! In the afternoon, we learnt how to give a ‘Big Up’ to other people, which is something we did well but will continue to work on. It was such a fun-filled day and the teachers and Character Builders were so impressed with each and every student.

It was beautiful to see everyone getting along so well and, at the end of the day, all students were grateful for their experience. Thank you to the Character Builders team for joining us for the day.

Year 6 PYP Exhibition: Encouraging In-Depth, Collaborative Inquiry

In the final year of the PYP, students carry out an extended, in-depth, collaborative project known as the PYP Exhibition.

Year 6 students work collaboratively to conduct in-depth inquiries into real life issues or problems. This year, students are exploring inequalities in the world around them through the theme of ‘Sharing the Planet’. Students collectively synthesise all of the essential elements of the PYP in ways that can benefit the whole school community.

Students have worked diligently since last term to gain a full and in-depth knowledge of their topic and plan the display with their peers. The opening of the exhibition commences tonight, Thursday 26 October from 6:00–8:00pm. Year 6 students: please arrive at the Performing Arts Centre Auditorium by 5:15pm for a quick sound-check for the opening song.

The community of St Peters are welcome to view the Exhibition on display at the Performing Arts Centre from tonight until its conclusion tomorrow, Friday 27 October at 9:45am.

It is beneficial for young students and their families to see the culmination of this exhibition, so please pop in if you have a chance.
