Boys Sport

The recent wet weather has certainly put a dampener on preparations for the AIC Athletic Championships, with cancellations of both the AIC Practice Meet last week and the St Peters Athletics Clinic on Monday. Nonetheless, aspiring athletes should remain focussed and recognise that efforts at the upcoming trainings and the final meet this Friday will be of utmost importance for the selection of the final St Peters Athletics Team to represent the College at the AIC Championship on 24 - 25 October.

Pre-season AIC Meets for Years 5 – 12 students will conclude this Friday evening (20 October) at the outside track at QSAC (Kessels Rd, Nathan). Transport for students will be provided to and from the event however students can be collected after the conclusion of their final event from QSAC if parents wish. Click here for full details.

The final team selections for the AIC Championship will not be made until after this final practice meet. Although this is later than anticipated, we hope that Friday night will allow every student the opportunity to improve and compete to their highest standard before selections are made.

The details of the AIC Championship Meet will be emailed to all boys this week (before team selections are made). Buses have been arranged to transport students to and from QSAC on both Championship days, with Tuesdays’ meet scheduled for 2:00 – 6:00pm (1500m, hurdles and some field events) and Wednesdays’ meet scheduled from 8:00am – 3:00pm (all other events).

We hope boys enjoy the experience, perform to the best of their ability and soak up the atmosphere.

It is great to see our young cricketers enjoying their experience and developing individual skills and teamwork ahead of the AIC competition in Term 1, 2018. Boys will continue to train on Wednesday afternoons at the Mayer nets with their respective coaches.

Volleyball: Junior Schools Cup

Congratulations to our three Junior Schools Cup volleyball teams who competed in the three-day state volleyball tournament last weekend at the Gold Coast. This competition provided a great opportunity for our young players to gain valuable on-court experience before the 2018 AIC and QGSSSA seasons.

Special congratulations to our Year 7 Boys Division 2 team who won gold for finishing first place in their division. This is a wonderful achievement. Congratulations to Sam R who received Most Valued Player for the division.

We look forward to the commencement of AIC pre-season volleyball training and supporting our players on the Melbourne tour to the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup in December (training for various teams starts this week).
