VAPAr Theatre Production News

Junior High and Senior students will be given details about this year’s upcoming VAPAr production in their respective assemblies this week. VAPAr is the Visual and Performing Arts festival held in mid August and celebrates the combination of Art, Drama, Film and TV and Music.

For the VAPAr production, Mr Nick Trethan is taking the folk tale, ‘Tsuro no Ongaeshi’ (The Crane Wife), to create an ensemble-based piece using dialogue, physical theatre and heightened visuals and symbols to explore the beautiful fable.

Years 9 -12 students who are interested in performing, working on the visual and technical aspects of a set, backstage or costuming are encouraged to attend a meeting on Wednesday 30 May at 12.50pm in the Performing Arts Centre Drama rooms.

On Open Day (Saturday 2 June), Mr Trethan will be training students in physical theatre movement in the Theatrette to showcase this style of learning (times TBA). Our first full VAPAr rehearsal will take place on Sunday 10 June from 12.00 - 5.00pm.
