FIRST Robotics Competition

This term, our Robotics team has diligently worked to prepare for the upcoming FIRST Robotics Competition South Pacific Regional event at the Sydney Olympic Park from 15-18 March. As well as designing, building and driving their robot, our team has developed a range of skills: writing an engineering journal, connecting with other teams and seeking sponsorship.

Congratulations to Vinesh N (Year 9), who secured sponsorship from the University of Queensland (UQ). UQ has generously provided $1,000 sponsorship for the combined St Peters and Grace Lutheran College team. This week, we were honoured to welcome UQ's Steve Forster, Acting Director, Office of Prospective Students & Student Equity, and Trent Leggatt, Marketing Manager, Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology, who met some of our team members and checked out our fantastic robotics room in action.

About St Peters Robotics

This year, many new students have joined St Peters Robotics. It is wonderful to see our newest members learning the basics with support from other students, parents and staff. Our dedicated Robotics space means that we can provide more opportunities for students to build and practice with their robots in similar scenarios to actual competition.

This term, Robotics students have already enjoyed presenting at the Community Expo, and featuring in photo and video shoots for Lutheran Education Queensland and St Peters.

Looking ahead, St Peters will host the 2018 Brisbane Regional RoboCup on Saturday 9 June. Keep up the great work students!

Parents and supporters: The Robotics Parent Support Group AGM will take place on Tuesday 13 Mar from 6.30 - 8.00pm in MSO7. All are welcome.
