As a College, we aim to foster the personal development of students in a nurturing, vibrant and non-discriminatory environment - where God’s love is lived out with hope and confidence in service to others
The aim for Student Leadership in Junior High is to provide deliberate and planned opportunities where students can discover, explore and develop their leadership skills and potential.
Since the beginning of the year, we have been working through the process of selecting our Junior High Leadership team. Of the 54 Year 9 applicants, 27 were shortlisted for interview. This week we formally announce that our Junior High Student Leadership team for 2026 is as follows:
Captains: Coco L and Joshua L
Vice-Captains: Aarvi D and Tanishk VM
Representatives: Hugh B, Eva B, Cameron D, Elliot E, Addison G, Adele H, Charlotte H, Millie H, Elliot L, Kiara M-S, Jacob P, Molly R, Gabby R.
We congratulate these students on their appointment and commend them for their willingness to serve our College community. Each of these young people has demonstrated commitment, integrity, initiative and a genuine desire to contribute positively to the life of the College.
We also acknowledge and thank every student who applied for a leadership position this year. The quality of applications and interviews reflected the strength, character and potential within our Year 9 cohort. Leadership takes many forms and we encourage all students to continue seeking opportunities to lead through service, encouragement and example.
We look forward to seeing our 2026 Junior High Student Leadership Team grow in confidence and purpose.
The Leaders’ Installation Ceremony will be held next week (Week 7), where the students will be presented with their leadership badges. Parents of our Year 9 Student Leaders have been invited to attend the Installation Ceremony.
House Leadership
Applications are now being called for those Year 9 students who are interested in being considered as a House Leader for 2026. The Application Form and Role Description was emailed to all Year 9s last week. The applications will then be collated and provided to the respective House Patrons who will shortlist the candidates and conduct interviews.
Student sickness during the school day
Just a reminder that if a student is unwell during the school day the procedure is as follows:
- they must report to Junior High Reception (students are not to contact parents directly); and
- they will be sent to the Health Centre where staff will assess their condition and decide if they can continue at school; if not, parents will be contacted by the Health Centre.
QGSSSA & AIC Swimming Championships
Thank you to the Junior High girls who volunteered to attend the QGSSSA Swimming Championships as spectators on Wednesday evening, your support was greatly appreciated by the team. Year 8 boys will attend Chandler Pool on 10 March to cheer on our St Peters swimmers.

Year 7
This week the Year 7 cohort began their TECH TOGETHER program, a partnership with the University of Queensland to discuss screen use in adolescence and to help them to establish healthy screen habits. All students participated in the first session in form classes, where the focus was to maximise the benefits of screen use but also to minimise the risks of unhealthy screen use for teens. Students discussed why it was important to set goals for their screen use (for example – how much do they use screens for learning or for recreation and why?), along with setting goals for monitoring their screen use and behaviours. They were encouraged to make small changes over the three-week course to benefit their engagement with their learning, improve their sleep quality and increase family time. The study participants have engaged in the pre-collection of data and have also had their first session together setting goals for healthier screen use. This program will run for another two weeks in pastoral care lessons (in Week 8 and 9 of this term).

Year 8
This week, our Year 8 students finalised their Form Class Representatives for Semester 1. We extend our congratulations to all students who nominated. This year’s group of candidates was exceptionally strong. Well done to the successful representatives.
Students who nominated but were not selected this round will be considered again for the Semester 2 process.
In Form classes this week, students have been exploring elements of the Visible Wellbeing framework, including identifying personal strengths, emotional regulation, attention and awareness, relationship skills, coping strategies, and positive habits.
We also extend our thanks to the students who have volunteered to assist with Open Day. Students can find the volunteer sign‑up link in the email sent by Ms Fox in Week 5.

Year 9
Year 9 students have been engaging with Visible Wellbeing through the implementation of the SEARCH framework in their Pastoral Care lessons. SEARCH (Strengths, Emotional Management, Attention & Awareness, Relationships, Coping, and Habits & Goals) provides students with a shared language to understand that wellbeing is multidimensional and something that can be learned, practised and strengthened. Across form classes, students have been exploring what each pathway looks like in everyday school life and identifying small, practical habits that support their growth. By embedding this common language, we are helping students develop greater self-awareness, resilience and leadership — reinforcing that wellbeing is built through intentional daily actions.
