At St Peters Springfield, our Parents and Friends (P&F) Association plays a vital role in shaping and enriching the life of our College. This group of dedicated parents and friends meet on the second Tuesday of each month, volunteering their time to discuss important matters and provide ongoing support through both events and funding. Meetings are now offered in a hybrid format, on campus and online, ensuring that as many voices as possible can be part of the conversation.

Our ongoing strategic approach in Parents and Friends this year, formed with President Mrs Nidhi Dhuldhoya, has been to increase parent involvement and engagement with the College. This is seen through events such as the Primary Discos, Mother’s and Father’s Day Stalls and upcoming Staff appreciation breakfast.

The P&F also provide vital financial support for initiatives that directly benefit our students. This is made possible through the P&F levies included in school fees, which are reinvested into programs, resources and facilities. We are deeply grateful for their support of the new Prep Shed and Mud Kitchen, the Soccer Goals that are enjoyed daily, several new musical instruments including a trombone and double bass, music stand lights, a Prep counting block kit, and bookshelves for the Primary Hub. Each of these contributions makes a tangible difference in the daily experience of our students.

The P&F are always eager to welcome new volunteers and committee members, with several vacancies currently available on the committee. Whether it is lending a hand at an event or contributing to planning and decision-making, every involvement strengthens our community and supports the flourishing of our young people.

• A set of spare clothes for messy play or toileting accidents
• Hat – NO caps (College sport/broad-brimmed hat is compulsory)
• Named SPF 50+ sunscreen, only if not using the OSHC sunscreen

In our unit of inquiry, students are exploring and investigating phenomena involving light and matter. Coordinating with the senior school, they have been able to access the light boxes and experiment with how light reflects, refracts and interacts with different levels of transparency. The students were given a demonstration on safety procedures in setting up the light boxes and shown the various materials they could use to affect the light.

Every group did something unique. The gasps of recognition, of wonder and of collaboration were impressive.

The Year 5 students will continue to develop their understanding of scientific principles and developing skills to safely experiment with light and matter.

Recently, our Primary Years community came together to celebrate Unity Day, a special occasion dedicated to strengthening the bonds within our College and living out our values of care, dignity, and respect.

As part of the celebrations, our Year 6 leaders visited the Primary Years classrooms to run a series of art-based activities inspired by RU OK? Day. These creative sessions encouraged students to reflect on the importance of checking in on one another, showing empathy, and using kindness to build stronger friendships. The older students demonstrated leadership and care as they guided the younger year levels through meaningful conversations and hands-on projects.

A highlight of the day was seeing students proudly contribute to our Unity Links, which symbolised the many small acts of encouragement and friendship that build a strong and caring community. Teachers and students alike commented on the positive energy, laughter, and sense of togetherness that filled the campus.

Unity Day reminded us all that by celebrating differences, showing empathy, and supporting one another, we create a learning environment where every child feels valued and included.

We were pleased to present a special showcase featuring the instrumental and speech and communication talents of students from Years 7 to 11 at AVEO Springfield this week. This event offered a platform for students to demonstrate their dedication, skill, and growth across the performing arts. The audience engaged in the thoughtfully curated program that reflected both individual creativity and the high standards of our arts education. Thank you to the participating students for their hard work and commendable achievements.

Springfield Festival of Learning Rising Stars Competition

Last Friday evening three students competed in the Rising Stars Competition as part of the Springfield Festival of Learning. Congratulations to Year 9 students Miandri K (violin) and Aleena M (piano accompanist) who were awarded First Place in the Secondary Instrumental Section and Alyssa B (Year 10) who was awarded 2nd Place in the Secondary Vocal Section.

Congratulations to Mr Cant, Aiyana P and Alexis T, who along with the Open Girls’ team have qualified for the StreetSmarts AFLQ Schools Cup State Finals in Maroochydore next term. The St Peters team has gone through undefeated so far, and we look forward to hearing how they perform on the State stage.
