St Peters Springfield student, Nicole S (Year 12), is aiming for the sky after attending the USQ Aviation Two-Day Experience in early July 2018. The camp, set at the University of Southern Queensland’s Springfield campus, saw two dozen Year 11 and 12 students turn up from all over the city—all eager to learn more about the booming aviation industry.

Nicole, who has long thought about becoming a pilot when she graduates from school, said that the camp provided a unique opportunity to glimpse toward her future—to get a taste of aviation and what her life could be like after school.

“I really enjoyed listening to everyone’s stories,” she said, “and their experiences breaking into the industry.”

She continued by stating that, when it comes to her career, she’s not sure yet whether she wants a job with one of the major airlines or whether she wants to fly smaller planes. Either way, she got to try it all out and learn from the best of the best over the two days.

“The highlight from the camp was definitely using the 737 flight simulator, but even the workshops were really good.”
