The inaugural Rural Leadership Scholarship recipient, Amelia Kenny, and her family are very grateful for the scholarship as it means such a tremendous financial relief to her parents who pursue the best opportunities for both Amelia and her younger siblings for a bright future. The benefit of enhancing Ameliaís leadership skills through a mentorship program is an added bonus of the scholarship.

Endowed by the Richards Foundation, the Rural Leadership scholarship enables a young person in rural Queensland to attend St Peters as a Boarder for the last three years of schooling. Often for rural families, Boarding School is the only educational option in the later years of schooling, yet one that is often beyond the financial means of many. The Rural Leadership Scholarship therefore opens a world of possibilities for a young person from the land.

"Receiving a scholarship such as this is life changing for a rural family and I congratulate St Peters and the Future Foundation for recognising the need to support our rural communities," said Natalie Kenny, mother of 2017 Rural Leadership Scholarship recipient Amelia Kenny.
