Pacific School Games

The Pacific School Games will be held in Adelaide from 3 - 9 December. Two St Peters Springfield students will represent Queensland at this event.

Congratulations to Tyla S (a recent graduate) who has been selected to compete in Shot Put. Tyla placed third at the Queensland Titles in October and her selection is a fitting reward for her dedication to Athletics over many years.

We also congratulate Shai W (Year 10) who will represent Queensland in Diving. Shai has represented Queensland over many years and will be a senior member of the competing team.

We wish both of these students well for their respective competitions and look forward to celebrating their successes.

School Sport

As we near the end of the school year, I thank all who have supported and been involved in St Peters Sport in 2017. More than 200 students from Years 3 to 12 have represented the College in sport throughout 2017, which is a wonderful effort.

St Peters Springfield students continue to excel and make outstanding contributions to St Peters Sport with many students involved in Premiership teams, making representative teams (including Met West and Queensland teams) and making Open or First teams.

Students who have been formally recognised for sporting achievements in 2017 constitute: (Year 7) 60% of cohort; (Year 8) 75% of cohort; (Year 9) 57% of cohort; (Year 10) 45% of cohort; (Year 11) 33% of cohort; and (Year 12) 33% of cohort.

However, I am also excited that many students represented St Peters for the first time across a range of sports, developing new skills, creating new friends and being physically active in the process. I am greatly encouraged by this and look forward to 2018 with excitement.

Finally, I thank parents for your ongoing support of your child and their involvement in sport. Without your support, students would not be able to participate and enjoy the benefits that sport brings. I wish all students and parents a safe and relaxing break and look forward to working with you in 2018.
