French Exchange Student Visit 2018

On Saturday, our host families said a sad farewell to our five French exchange students.

During their three-week-long stay, Luna, Claire, Vencia, Ornella and Ines enjoyed doing a wide range of activities with their host families. Some highlights included a couple of nights spent at Ironbark getting to know their correspondents, visiting other Australian cities and beaches, having the chance to teach some culinary skills to their host students, shopping, sharing musical tastes; and enjoying the lovely pizza party, hosted by the Scott family, on their last night.

The first week at school, the girls helped celebrate French Week through reading stories to Junior School students and teaching Prep students some French songs and dances. Our visitors participated in classes across the Senior School, immersing themselves well.

During the final week of their stay, they visited Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Ines participated in the Sports Carnival on Thursday in Springfield, prior to joining her compatriots in the Hub with our Chinese visitors to learn a little about Australian Indigenous culture. On Friday, the girls joined the Senior School Art Excursion to the Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art.

Many thanks to our marvellous host families (the Scott family, the Neil family, the Maynard family, the Wilsmore family and the Thompson family), for their generosity and support.
